How To Design A Heavy Duty Material Transfer Cart?

June 30, 2026

Recently, BEFANBY successfully commissioned and deployed a custom-engineered 60-ton low-voltage rail-powered ladle transfer cart for a client in the large-scale material transport sector. This vehicle provides an efficient solution for the high-temperature, heavy-load transfer of steel ladles within the client's production facility.

As shown in on-site photos, the heavy-duty rail cart features a high-strength steel plate structure clearly marked with a 60-ton rated load capacity. It is equipped with reinforced triangular support brackets on both sides, specifically designed to cradle and transport high-temperature steel ladles. Black anti-collision strips are installed on the cart body to serve both as safety warnings and equipment protection, while raised side guardrails securely hold the ladle vessel in place, eliminating the risk of load shifting or tipping during transport.

The cart operates using a low-voltage rail power supply system; specialized power rails installed on the factory floor deliver safe, low-voltage electricity continuously. This setup removes range limitations, enabling 24-hour uninterrupted operation that aligns perfectly with the continuous pace of steelmaking, while eliminating the need for frequent charging or cable handling.

Regarding load capacity, the vehicle is rated for 60 tons and constructed from thickened, wear-resistant welded steel plates, significantly enhancing its resistance to impact and deformation caused by high temperatures.

Additionally, the cart supports customizable control schemes, offering a dual-mode system that combines a wired handheld controller with a wireless remote. Operators can manage forward and backward movement, speed adjustment, and start/stop functions from a distance, keeping them away from the high-temperature ladle zone to minimize burn risks—making it ideal for the harsh, high-temperature, and dusty environments typical of metallurgical workshops.
